At just 7.6mm thick and weighing 112g the iPhone 5 is 20% lighter than the 4S. The new 4 inch Retina display is longer, not wider, so now there’s a 5th row of icons on the homescreen. The iPhone 5 has the latest A6 quad-core chip delivering 2x faster performance compared to the A5 chip on previous models.
The camera on the iPhone 5 now has a hybrid IR filter, 5 elements lens, f/2.4 aperture and precision lens alignment. The 8 megapixel camera also has a panorama mode. You can take a slow sweep of the landscape and the iSight camera combines the images to create a stunning 28 megapixel panoramic photo. Video records at 1080p HD and includes face detection for up to 8 people. There’s also a front facing 720p camera for use with FaceTime.
iOS 6 has more than 200 new features, the Maps app is now Apples own and it includes fantastic 3D detailing, turn-by-turn navigation and Flyover allowing you to get a bird’s eye view of major cities and landmarks.
